José Luis Madueño - 1996 - Chilcano


[English] First solo album from the pianist and composer Peruvian José Luis Madueño, Chilcano is a work of jazz with elements african-Peruvians as the landó, festejo and zamacueca, mixed with Cuban, Brazilian and Venezuelan loudness. As described on its website the music of Jose Luis is "Andean tradition and feeling Creole and Afro-Peruvian sound design by Jose Luis lead us to an alternative space, incorporating languages ranging from classical and jazz to contemporary popular music" This album was recorded in Florida in 1996 and published by the label Songosaurus, dedicated to Latin jazz. The participations are expressives in international jazz scene, as the North American bassist John Patitucci, the Peruvian drummer Alex Acuña and the North American saxophonist Steve Tavaglione.
