Neste caso é curioso quando pensamos em um disco com músicas de Freddie Hubbard e produzido por ele mas que não houve sua participação nas sessões de gravação, algo pouco comum em sua carreira. Para as tarefas de reinterpretação, encararam o desafio os talentosos trompetistas Tim Hagans e Marcus Printup, além dos saxofonistas Vincent Herring e Javon Jackson, todos sob a pilastra do excelente trio Benny Green, Peter Washington e Kenny Washington. Por um longo período, de 1960 a 2008, Freddie Hubbard gravou uma grande quantidade de músicas em muitos álbuns individuais, como colaborador ou em parcerias. Durante sua prolífera carreira, produziu diversas composições que se tornaram temas famosos no jazz, para esse gravação de "Hubsongs", foram selecionadas dez músicas marcantes de sua história, com enfase principalmente na década de 1960, período em que criou temas como "Happy Times", "Crisis", "Thermo" e outros que o acompanharam até o final de sua carreira. [English] "Hubsongs" is an excellent jazz record from 1998 that was produced by trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, the Hub. In this case it's curious when we think of a album with songs by Freddie Hubbard and produced by him but there was no his participation in the recording sessions, something unusual in his career. For reinterpretation the challenge was to the talented trumpet players Tim Hagans and Marcus Printup, the saxophonists Vincent Herring and Javon Jackson, all under the pillar of the excellent trio Benny Green, Peter Washington and Kenny Washington. For a long time, from 1960 to 2008, Freddie Hubbard recorded a great deal of music in many individual albums, as collaborator or in partnerships. During his prolific career, he produced several compositions that became famous themes in jazz. For this record of "Hubsongs" were selected ten outstanding songs of its history, emphasizing mainly in the decade of 1960, period in which it created subjects like "Happy Times", "Crisis," "Thermo," and others songs who accompanied him until the end of his career. Songs of more recent period were included only two, the hardbop theme "Byrdlike" of 1982 and "Life Flight" of 1987.
